The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was expected for questions to be raised about his future following a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the team's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got a lot of backing from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory of course but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented known shortcomings from his squad in their European defeat, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a phase such as this with performances like these.”

He stated, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And until it is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
