A budget proposal that would end the record-setting federal closure in US history is heading to the House of Representatives for a critical decision on the coming day.

On the 43rd day of the legislative standoff, representatives are reassembling in Washington to determine if they will approve a Senate package that would support public services for two months.

GOP leaders expressed confidence the funding measure would pass through the House of Representatives, notwithstanding their narrow majority. But leading opposition members promised to vote against it.
