Starting Eleven

The goalkeeper Had little to do required during the opening 45 but then called into action from Arbër Hoxha’s curled attempt. His sliding tackle against Qazim Laci showed sharp game intelligence. 6/10

The debutant Challenged against the opposition's primary attacker through their forward. Operated more centrally initially but moved out wide once Saka came on. 7

John Stones Moved up the pitch when in possession, as he has done previously. On occasion lacked urgency on the ball and the approach discontinued at half-time. Six

The tall defender A nuisance from dead balls, per usual, could serve as an alternative to Stones at the back instead of alongside him. A loose ball later in the match nearly resulted in an opener from Albania. 6/10

Nico O’Reilly Another composed showing by the youngster following his debut against Serbia. Saka failed to make the opportunity from a clever touch behind their defense. The role looks secure at this stage. 7

Adam Wharton His maiden beginning for his country. A bit loose in possession however his whipped deliveries posed a danger. A handy pace-controller available to the boss to have versus defensive opponents. Booked after a reckless challenge. 6/10

Declan Rice Set-pieces from dead balls and free-kicks were dangerous. Was given room to move in left midfield yet found himself offside as the pass came in front of goal. Given a well-earned rest after an hour. Six

Jude Bellingham Operated in a forward role out wide while also contributed with defensive duties. Showed flashes of quality but scuffed an effort high. Substituted late on by Rogers, a fellow player, after being booked. 7/10

The winger Had the team's best chance in the opening period, his strike excellently kept out by the Albanian keeper. As a teammate hanging back, he was forced to provide width down the right side although his balls into the box were inconsistent. Replaced for the final quarter-hour. Six

The captain The difference-maker scoring two more finishes for his country. His first a typical close-range tap-in and the second an excellent header having drifted away away from the opposition. Now 32, his form is unwavering and England stand a real opportunity next summer when he's in the team. 8

Eberechi Eze Had difficulty to make an impact out wide. Was presented with a decent opportunity after being played in from a teammate yet Strakosha made the save. His replacement had a greater an impact when substituted. 5/10
