The Blue Jays Earn World Series Showdown Against defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros winning the championship in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays reached their first Fall Classic since the 1993 season by overcoming the Mariners in the final game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Down 3-1, Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh frame, leading the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 series triumph in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the forthcoming championship.

"I'm thrilled for this squad, our city, the nation," Springer stated, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now connected for 23 playoff homers, ranking him third on the list behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another player anywhere that I'd choose in that spot besides Springer with his playoff prowess," noted Schneider.

The Mariners, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts throughout the year.

"It's a special team. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of the series," he remarked.

The Blue Jays won the World Series on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
