During his first start in the competition - and fifth game for the club - the young midfielder suitably impressed as the 15-time Champions League winners secured a 3-0 last-16 first-leg lead at the Bernabeu.

He holds dual Moroccan and Spanish citizenship, giving him the option to play for either country at the highest level.
Under Fifa eligibility rules, footballers may represent multiple nations at junior level without being locked in, with the final decision only final once they appear in a official full international.
He has played for the Spanish national team at youth level, representing both the U19 and U20 teams, and took part in the 2025 Fifa Under-20 World Cup, where La Roja reached the quarter-finals.
Nevertheless, he has yet to commit to any full national side, who are monitoring his rise with keen attention.
In a recent interview, Pitarch confirmed: "I haven't made my final decision yet. Things are great with Spain, but I will reach a conclusion soon."
His situation echoes that of other bi-national talents such as club colleague Diaz and Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal. While teenage Yamal chose Spain, Brahim decided to play for Morocco.

For now, his attention is on establishing himself in the Real side and rewarding Arbeloa's faith.
